Student Councillors

At South Newman Primary School, we are proud of the way our Student Councillors conduct themselves, and assist in the way the school operates. Councillors are elected each semester, with the Head Boy and Head Girl elected for a full year. Our Councillors, gave us an insight into their job as school leaders:

Being a councillor you have to be responsible, trustworthy and very organised. Councillors are role-models to the younger kids of the school.

As councillors, we have to go to meetings at all times, and are involved in good things like presenting at school assemblies.

Just because you have a badge on, doesn't mean that you can boss people around - it means that you need to be a responsible student, and listen to others' problems and concerns.

Being a councillor at the start of the year, you feel shy, but then you build up your confidence and you become a better leader and a role-model to your school and community.
