ITAS (Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme)
South Newman Primary School receives funding from the Commonwealth Government to assist identified indigenous students who do not meet the Year 3, 5 and 7 literacy and numeracy benchmarks.
This funding is used to provide individualised tutorial assistance to these students, with up to 2.5 hours a week of literacy and numeracy help. This in-class tuition takes place during school hours, and is run by a specialist teacher in conjunction with the classroom teacher, to ensure the program supplements the classroom program.
